Insulate your wallet by insulating your home
Residents are being encouraged to save hundreds of pounds a year – and do their bit for the environment – by making sure their homes are properly insulated.
Around 60% of the heat from a home can be lost through its walls and roof if it is not properly insulated – adding more than £300 to the typical fuel bill.
Northants Warm Homes, a partnership of all district and borough councils in Northamptonshire, has joined forces with the Snug Network to give the county’s residents the chance to get cavity wall or loft insulation for just £59 per installation.
Residents aged 70 or over, or in receipt of certain benefits, can even get the work done for free.
Simon Winch, Chairman of Northants Warm Homes, said: “We want people to be able to heat their home, not the street outside.
“We’ve calculated that residents will be able to save up to £310 a year on their fuel bills if their homes are properly insulated, so this really is great value for money.
“I would encourage all householders who don’t have either loft or cavity wall insulation – or if they are not sure whether or not they need it – to call now for a free, no obligation survey.”
He added: "From 2013 government grants to reduce the cost of insulation measures will reduce significantly meaning homeowners may end up having to pay up to £1,000 for the same work to be carried out, so now is the time to act."
